Location: Durham, NC Compensation: $28/hr - $32/hr (Dependent on Experience) Schedule: During peak season, this team operates on a 24/7 schedule to meet customer demand. Flexibility is key, and workweeks may exceed 40 hours. Position Overview We’re seeking a Senior Service Technician to join our client in Durham, NC. This is not a basic pool cleaning job—this is a hands-on, senior-level field technician role focused on troubleshooting, installing, and maintaining high-performance pool systems and equipment. Service Technician performs water tests and analysis of data to assure the proper chemical balancing and doses as appropriate. Must be well organized to keep accurate service and maintenance records and communicate effectively to determine needs. Works as a leader, has strong customer relationships and team building qualities. Our client is a 24/7 Service company during the season and working over 40 hrs. a week may be a job requirement. Ideal candidates will bring mechanical systems experience from the HVAC industry, military technical service, or similar hands-on roles and be ready to grow into a more formal leadership position. If you’ve worked on aircraft systems, shipboard mechanics, HVAC units, or similar environments, you’ll thrive here. Key Responsibilities
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair advanced pool equipment including pumps, filters, heaters, plumbing systems, and automation panels.
  • Conduct site diagnostics, interpret schematics, and execute complex system repairs.
  • Retrofit and upgrade aging equipment with modern systems for efficiency and safety.
  • Provide field mentoring to junior techs and coordinate multi-site service schedules.
  • Document work orders, track materials, and manage inventory on the service truck.
  • Communicate clearly with clients on service timelines, upgrades, and maintenance recommendations.
  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA, local code, and safety best practices.
  • Collaborate with team leads and operations managers to improve service delivery and technical performance.
What YOU Bring
  • 3–7 years of mechanical experience (HVAC, military technical field, commercial equipment repair, or similar).
  • Transferable technical skills—fluid systems, electrical diagnostics, pumps, motors, or automation.
  • Experience working in the field independently and solving customer-facing issues.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, interpret technical manuals, and perform system installations.
  • Strong time management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Bonus if you’ve worked with pool systems before but not required—we will train the right mechanically skilled candidate.
  • High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent.
