Job Summary:

The Mold Technician, Equipment Set-Up in an automotive parts manufacturing company typically involves responsibilities related to the setup, maintenance, and operation of various equipment used in the manufacturing process. The Mold Technician has the responsibility to initiate action to prevent product non-conformity, identify and record quality problems, recommend and implement solutions, verify implementation, identify and dispose of scrap properly, and report deficiencies to supervisor.

Overall, the Technician, Equipment Set-Up plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of manufacturing equipment, optimizing production processes, and contributing to the overall success of the automotive parts manufacturing company.

Job Responsibilities:

Your supervisor may from time to time ask you to perform other related duties not specifically included in this job description. This job's key responsibilities include:

• Check with previous shift to verify production schedule and current process parameters.
• Check production schedule for mold and/or material changes.
• Perform mold and/or material changes as specified or required.
• Verify current process parameters before production continues.
• Perform gage and/or weight checks to validate process capability.
• Complete assigned paperwork as appropriate.

Job Qualifications:

• Education:
  • Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Preference for any additional technical training or certification related to equipment setup, maintenance, or repair. This could include vocational training programs, technical schools, or certification courses in areas such as manufacturing technology, industrial maintenance, or mechanical engineering technology.
• Skills & Experience
  • Previous work experience in manufacturing, such as automotive, or plastic related industries.
  • Equipment Operation Experience: Familiarity with the operation of manufacturing equipment and tools relevant to the specific industry is often preferred.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Strong mechanical aptitude and technical skills are essential for this role. Candidates should have a good understanding of mechanical systems, tools, and equipment.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and implement effective solutions is crucial for success in this role.
  • Attention to Detail: Technicians must pay close attention to detail to ensure that equipment is set up correctly and maintained according to specifications.
  • Safety Awareness: A strong commitment to workplace safety is essential. Technicians must be aware of safety protocols and regulations and follow them rigorously to prevent accidents or injuries.
  • Ability to Work in a Team: Technicians often work as part of a team in a manufacturing environment. The ability to collaborate effectively with coworkers and contribute to a positive work culture is valuable.
  • Continuous Improvement Experience: Exposure to continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing can be an asset.
